We Need to Bring Back Being a “Regular”
I think we've accidentally made life too complicated.
Every coffee shop has 47 drink options.
Every TV show has eight seasons.
Every app wants you to "unlock premium."
Meanwhile, we've forgotten one of life's greatest joys...
Being a regular somewhere.
You know the people I'm talking about.
The guy who walks into the coffee shop and they start making his order before he says a word.
The woman whose bartender sees her walk in and says, "The usual?"
That's confidence.
Me? I'm a regular at exactly one place, and it's my local grocery store because I keep forgetting ingredients.
I'll confidently buy everything for tacos, get home, and realize I forgot tortillas.
The next day I'm back.
Then I forgot cheese.
Then sour cream.
At this point, the cashier thinks I'm cooking one taco every 24 hours.
There's something comforting about places where you know what you're getting.
You walk in, settle into your seat, and for the next hour or two you don't have to think about work, emails, bills, or whether you remembered to switch the laundry.
You just laugh.
Honestly, I think we could all use a little more of that.
I've got a bunch of shows coming up, and I'd love to see some familiar faces in the crowd. Maybe you'll become one of the regulars. Maybe you'll bring someone who's never seen live comedy before.
Either way, I promise it'll be a lot more fun than making your fourth trip to the grocery store because you forgot cilantro.
Check out my upcoming shows, grab a couple of tickets, and come hang out.
Who knows?
Maybe we'll make being “regular” cool again.
